The World Health Organization (WHO) officially defined the word ‘health’ in 1948 as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease and infirmity.”
Almost 40 years later the WHO clarified by adding, “A resource for everyday life, not the objective of living. Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities.” In other words, a healthy lifestyle is a resource to truly improve one’s life.
Further research is showing that the blueprint of lifelong good health is reliant on what experts call “lifestyle medicine.” This “lifestyle medicine” is composed of making simple lifestyle changes in different sectors of your health such as diet, exercise, and stress management. These changes, then, fuel the improvement of your health and in turn, life.
